Healthy urbanism supports a view of urban design that considers health, the environment, and social interaction as part of the development process. The COVID-19 pandemic is challenging us to re-think the architecture of density and urban sprawl. How do we reconcile the need for density with healthy social distancing without inducing social isolation? What can planners, architects and urbanist do to prevent or lessen the explosion of a pandemic of this scale in the future?
By confronting the distance between density and sprawl, this panel will discuss how we can create a healthier, safer, and more ecologically balanced urban environments to support society’s efforts for stronger public health.
