The event will combine a recognition of the most outstanding development projects within the Atlanta District Council, along with a celebration of ULI’s 25 years of impact in our region.
Under the leadership of Ron Terwilliger, ULI Atlanta recognized 25 years ago that the development industry of the Atlanta region was deserving of an awards program that would celebrate and elevate outstanding development and leadership. This recognition of our best works and leaders is a thoughtful and enjoyable way to thank those who take great risk and demonstrate excellent work. It is also a way to inspire our members and colleagues with outstanding examples so that we may all be motivated to raise our game.
For that reason, the theme for ULI Atlanta’s 25th Anniversary Awards for Excellence Dinner is: 25 Years of Impact. A look back at past Project of the Year winners is a reminder of remarkable work that continues to influence how and where our urban environments develop – Villages of East Lake (2002) continues to be a national model for comprehensive community development; Tech Square (2004) was critical to connecting Midtown and Georgia Tech and creating the dynamic hub we have today; Old Fourth Ward Park (2013) became the anchor for sustainable development along the Atlanta BeltLine Eastside Trail.
This year’s project finalists are remarkable developments, consistent with the impactful projects from prior years. Indeed, these projects exceeded expectations of the selection committee – they are diverse yet consistently demonstrate a passion for place, the environment and their communities. The research and technology in balance with the human and social aspects of each project demonstrates the desire to create sustainable and lovable places. This year’s project finalists elevate our Atlanta region to one of world-class design. A few examples include:
A selection committee member captured it best when he made the following remark as we were wrapping up our tour of projects, “Anyone who says there isn’t real innovation and creativity going on in Atlanta real estate should come spend a day on this tour.”
The Atlanta region is beautifully and impactfully built. We are a city and region where impressive, creative people continually come together to challenge the status quo and raise the bar for the betterment of people and place. With a history of progressive growth and strong community spirit, we collaborate and create well together. Please join us on September 12 for this year’s Silver Anniversary Annual Awards for Excellence Dinner to recognize the most outstanding projects of the year and to celebrate 25 years of ULI Atlanta impact.
