YLG Mentor Program
The mission of the mentor program is to foster an exchange of professional ideas, friendship, and expertise among young real estate professionals and industry veterans. This program matches young professionals (mentees) with experienced professionals (mentors) for guidance and support while offering mentors an opportunity to strengthen ties with the young, future leaders of the local real estate community and ULI.
The application is open until COB September 19. Please click here to review in full and submit the application. Late submissions will NOT be accepted.
MENTEE CRITERIA
Commitment: Each mentee must be committed to the program in order to create the type of atmosphere necessary for success. Attendance and participation in each group outing of the program is expected.
Structure: Each mentorship group shall consist of two young professionals and an industry mentor. Groups are expected to meet at least once a month for the length of the program. The cadence, schedule, and topics of discussion are totally up to each group, though.
Active Participation: Mentees should have a clear idea of what they want to achieve through the program, whether that be obtaining career advice or learning from their peers and mentor about specific issues in their sector. Each mentee group must take responsibility for scheduling and communicating the structure of the first meeting with their mentor. From there, future meetings can be arranged as availabilities permit. This is crucial to taking the scheduling work off the mentor’s hands and keeping the group together. If your mentor is unresponsive, please notify program chairs Sarah Buckner ([email protected]) and Hunter Goldberg ([email protected]) so that reassignment to a new mentor can try to be arranged.
Education: Must have college or equivalent education and experience.
Work Experience: Minimum of 1 year experience in the real estate industry or related fields, including development, architecture, planning, government, hospitality, transportation, engineering, finance, sustainability, and relevant non-profits.
Current Employment: Currently employed in a real estate-adjacent industry.
Must be a ULI Member: If you are invited to join the program, you must be a ULI member before formally accepting placement. If you are interested in becoming a ULI Member, click here.

Submitting applications is free, but you will be charged $200 should you accept invitation into the program. If accepted, this fee will be due in full by COB Friday, November 1. This fee covers the cost of the four group events.
Full individual refunds will be considered only until COB Monday, February 3 prior to the second group event and will only be accepted in the case of unforeseen emergencies that would necessitate one leaving the program or negligence from one’s mentor that cannot be resolved with a reassignment. Following February 3, refunds will not be permitted.
MENTORS:
Those interested in becoming mentors for the 2024-25 cohort should contact Austin Combs at [email protected]. As the number of mentors will reflect the number of mentees selected, all mentors may not be asked to serve this year.
