Center for Leadership Alumni Council
Why: The CFL Alumni Council will serve the purpose of creating more engagement with ULI Atlanta among CFL graduates and give them a tangible “after CFL” opportunity to pursue. Programming will allow alumni to network across their industries, while also providing professional education that aligns with ULI’s global and local strategic priorities.
What: The Council will meet three times a year to discuss and develop outings for council members. Each program day the Council composes will be educational and practical in nature and look similar to the days they experienced as members of CFL. Programming may include site tours, guest speakers, panel discussions, happy hours, and will be focused on elevating thought leadership and discussions around trending real estate topics, such as:
- Adaptive reuse
- Capital markets
- Economic development
- ESG
- Infrastructure
- Housing affordability
- Mixed-Use
- Transportation
Additionally, The CFL Alumni Council is designed to provide connectivity to current CFL Classes in the following ways:
- Serving as the Selection Committee for the incoming class
- Assist with mTAP outreach and advise as needed to CFL mTAP Chair/Co-Chair
- Work on an annual service project that helps ULI Atlanta in achieving its goals.
Who: The Council will consist of CFL graduates (2010 onward) who are ULI members who do not serve on another local product council. The Council will not only reflect diversity in pursuit of ULI’s DEI initiatives and strategic plan but also in terms of industry background.
Its executive committee will be led by Alex Demestihas, Amy Granelli, and Patricia Luna. ULI Atlanta staffer Austin Combs will be the point person for the Council, providing all needed operations assistance, while Atlanta director Barbra Hardy will provide general oversight.
The Commitment: Council members will be expected to be active ULI members, fulfill 3-year terms, and pay their annual CFL council dues ($400 for private, $200 for public/nonprofit). Days will typically run from 11:30 AM to 6:00 PM. The Council will launch with its first meeting in Spring 2024.
