Join ULI Atlanta for the first in a series of conversations about real estate, land use and equity. We will take a closer look at policies, practices and regulations that work to counter inequality and ensure we are building communities that work for everyone. Attendees will hear from national and local leaders on racial imbalance, equitable development, community advancement, economic growth and more.

When we talk about equitable development it is about what is developed and who it serves but is also about how that development comes to be. Development that occurs with and not to residents and neighborhoods is by definition more equitable. It is hard work that requires sustained relationships and vision which is where Community Development Corporations (CDCs) come it. CDCs are positioned to build the economic and social strength of urban neighborhoods. Established in the 1960’s, CDCs have become active and resourceful in successful revitalizations while maintaining relationships with the residents in the communities they serve. They have helped to sustain communities by developing residential and commercial properties, varying from affordable housing to shopping centers and businesses.

In terms of impact, how successful have CDCs been? This virtual program will focus on how developers have partnered with CDCs to invest in some of the city’s most historic neighborhoods. What learnings can we take from the CDC business model? How can CDCs be part of the solution to build neighborhoods, cities, and a region that works better for everyone? Join us and local CDC leaders and partners as we learn how they have been instrumental in delivering impactful projects throughout the city.
