CEO, Link Asset Management Limited

Mr George Kwok Lung HONGCHOY (“Mr HONGCHOY”), aged 58, has been an Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Manager since February 2009 and May 2010 respectively. He is also one of the responsible officers of the Manager for the purposes of the SFO, a director of The Link Holdings Limited, Link Properties Limited, The Link Finance Limited and a number of subsidiaries of Link. He is the chairman of the Supervisory Committee of Tracker Fund of Hong Kong (listed in Hong Kong), a trustee of the University of Pennsylvania, an adjunct professor of the Department of Real Estate and Construction of The University of Hong Kong, a member of the Asia-Pacific Advisory Board of International Council of Shopping Centers, a global governing trustee of the Urban Land Institute and an advisor of Our Hong Kong Foundation Limited. He was a member of the Corporate Governance Committee of Charoen Pokphand Group, Thailand from 2016 to 2018. Mr HONGCHOY began his career in New Zealand and has since moved into senior management positions in financial consulting, investment banking and real estate investment. He was named one of Harvard Business Review’s 100 Best-Performing CEOs in the World 2019, the Country Winner of Hong Kong/Macau Region in the EY Entrepreneur of the Year 2017 China Award, Business Person of the Year by DHL/SCMP Hong Kong Business Awards in 2015, and was also presented with the Director of the Year Award (Listed Companies – Executive Directors) by The Hong Kong Institute of Directors in 2011. Mr HONGCHOY holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Canterbury and an MBA degree from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. He is a Chartered Accountant, a Senior Fellow and a member of the Corporate Advisory Council of the Hong Kong Securities and Investment Institute, a Fellow and Council member of The Hong Kong Institute of Directors, and a Fellow member of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand, the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, and the Institute of Shopping Centre Management.

Ming Mei

Chief Executive Officer & Co-Founder, GLP

Ming Z. Mei is Co-Founder and CEO of GLP, a leading global investment manager and business builder in logistics, real estate, infrastructure, finance and related technology with over US$89 billion of assets under management in real estate and private equity funds. Under his leadership and vision, GLP revolutionized the modern logistics industry by taking an innovative and entrepreneurial approach to growth and value creation and has since expanded into adjacent sectors and new markets. Ming is Chairman of the Investment Committee of Eastern Bell Venture Capital and sits on various public and private boards. He is also an Investor and board member of Value Retail China, a company that specializes in the development and operation of luxury outlet shopping villages. Ming graduated from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and the School of Business and Management at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology with a Master of Business Administration. He received his Bachelor of Science in Finance from Indiana University School of Business.

Heiming Cheng

Founder and Chairman, KaiLong Investment Management (Shanghai) Co., Ltd

With over 30 years of real estate experience, Mr. Cheng’s work experience has covered a comprehensive range of activities, including ground-up real estate development, real estate investment, fund management, business consulting, commercial banking operations, liquidity, and interest rate risk management. As one of the key founding members of KaiLong in 2004, Mr. Cheng has built and led the team to become a leading player in Asian Pacific, Greater China and London’s vibrant investment and asset management market. Since 2010, KaiLong has established five domestic Rmb funds totaling RMB2.8 billion. The fifth fund, launched in 2016, is the first RMB-denominated open-ended core fund in China, targeting income generating assets with an initial AUM of Rmb3.4 billion and target AUM of over Rmb15 billion. To date, KaiLong has raised a total of 12 domestic and overseas funds and invested over US$3.4 billion in 51 real estate projects. Of these, 29 have already been exited, with excellent risk-adjusted returns. Before joining KaiLong, Mr. Cheng was the General Manager of Shui On Land. He oversaw the development and operations of Rainbow City, City Apartment, and Hangzhou Xi Hu Tiandi, as well as participating in the construction and operations management of Shanghai Xintiandi. Prior to that, Mr. Cheng held various senior positions with Standard Chartered Bank, including Greater China Head of Finance and Risk and Senior Manager of Marketing and Operations.

Chris Luebkeman

Director for Strategic Foresight, Office of the President, ETH Zürich

Chris Luebkeman is the leader of the Strategic Foresight Hub in the Office of the President at ETH Zurich. This recently established Hub is a team which engages a broad range of stakeholders concerning future focused drivers of change. He combines an attitude of pragmatic optimism with curiosity and a deep sense of planetary responsibility to all of his collaborations. Dr Luebkeman’s career to date has spanned professions and geographies. His multidisciplinary education (geology, civil engineering, structural engineering, entrepreneurship and a Doctorate in Architecture) was encouraged by his Mid-Western family of educators. His journey included Vanderbilt, Cornell and the ETH Zurich. He became an academic gypsy teaching Studios on Design and courses on Technology at the University of Oregon, the Chinese University of Hong Kong and at the MIT. He joined the global engineering consultancy Arup in London to lead the Research and Development group in 1999. He became a corporate intrapreneur by founding the Foresight, Innovation and Incubation teams. He established the Drivers of Change program and is proud to have been accused by the Guardian to have a mindset “in league with the future”. He is deeply passionate about curating constructive dialogue, insatiably curious, relished the opportunity to discover the opportunities which will be created by change and, perhaps most importantly, to evolve positive solutions to the profound challenges we face today. For twenty years he travelled the globe sharing his observations and insights by leading projects focused on the future for Arup, Arup’s clients and for many of the world’s leading institutions. For example, he has spoken at TED, hosted conversations at, and for, WEF and keynoted dozens of conferences around the world. He is a member of the nominating committee for the prestigious Lee Kuan Yew World City Prize, the external advisory Board of the Urban Redevelopment Authority of Singapore and of the Brain Trust of the Climate Music Project.

Kwon Ping Ho

Executive Chairman, Banyan Tree Holdings Ltd

HO Kwon Ping is the Founder and Executive Chairman of Banyan Tree Holdings and Laguna Resorts and Hotels, and Executive Chairman of Thai Wah Public Company. All three family-owned companies are listed in Singapore and Thailand. He is also the founding and current Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Singapore Management University, Chairman of The Singapore Summit and a non-executive Director of Diageo, the UK-listed spirits company. Educated in Tunghai University, Taiwan; Stanford University, California and the University of Singapore, he was the Economics Editor of the Far Eastern Economic Review in Hong Kong before joining the Thai Wah family business and then starting his own companies. Among various awards, Mr Ho has received the London Business School Entrepreneurship Award; CEO of the Year at the Singapore Corporate Awards; CNBC Travel Business Leader Award ; Distinguished Alumnus Award from the National University of Singapore; and Lifetime Achievement Awards from the American Creativity Association, China Hotel Investment Summit, Australia Hotel Investment Summit. Honoured for his contributions and accomplishments in the hotel industry in the Asia Pacific region and globally, Mr Ho is the only two-time recipient of Hotel Investment Conference Asia Pacific - HICAP’s Innovation Award (2003) and Lifetime Achievement Award (2019) in its 30-year establishment. For his services to the country he has been decorated with the Meritorious Service Medal and the Distinguished Service Order by the Singapore Government. Mr Ho has also been conferred honorary doctorates by Johnson & Wales University and from Hong Kong Poly University. He is the author of two books: Asking Why reflects his journey in journalism and entrepreneurship over a period of forty years, and includes articles commissioned by The Straits Times; while The Ocean in a Drop: Singapore in the next Fifty Years is a compilation of public lectures he gave as the Inaugural Fellow of the SR Nathan Lecture Series, named after the Sixth President of Singapore. Mr. Ho is married to Claire Chiang, Senior Vice President, Banyan Tree Holdings. They have three children – two sons and a daughter and welcomed their first grandchild in 2015 as well as second and third grandchildren in 2018.

Joshua Raffaelli

Managing Partner, Brookfield Technology Partners

Josh Raffaelli is a Managing Partner at Brookfield, where he oversees the technology-enabled investing initiatives of Brookfield Technology Partners. Prior to joining Brookfield in 2017, Mr. Raffaelli was a Managing Director at Silver Lake and a Principal at Draper Fisher Jurvetson, after starting his career at JPMorgan. Mr. Raffaelli holds an MBA from Stanford University and a Bachelor of Arts from Harvard University, and is a Kauffman Fellow.

Owen Thomas

Chief Executive Officer, Boston Properties

Owen D. Thomas is the Chief Executive Officer and a Director of Boston Properties. He is a Director of Lehman Brothers Holdings and served as its first Chairman from 2012 until 2013 when he joined Boston Properties. Prior to Lehman, Mr. Thomas was with Morgan Stanley for 24 years serving in a number of different roles, business units and locations, including Chief Executive Officer of Morgan Stanley Asia and Chairman of Mitsubishi UFJ Morgan Stanley Securities, while living in Hong Kong from 2008 until 2011. He also held the roles of President of Morgan Stanley Investment Management, Head of Morgan Stanley Real Estate and served on Morgan Stanley's Management Committee from 2005 until 2011. Mr. Thomas is the Global Chairman of the Urban Land Institute, a Director of the Urban Land Institute Foundation, a Director of the Real Estate Roundtable, and a member of the Executive Board of the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts. He is a Director of Episcopal Charities of New York and formerly Chairman of the Pension Real Estate Association and Director of the University of Virginia Investment Management Company. He attended and is a former Trustee of Woodberry Forest School, received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Virginia and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.

Hala El Akl

Director, PLP Architecture

Hala is a Director at PLP Architecture and Founding Director of PLP Labs. With over ten years’ experience covering the full spectrum of typologies as an architect and urbanist at PLP, she helps drive the studio’s deep-rooted passion for innovation. Hala directs teams on commercial, life-science, residential, retail and mixed-use projects across the UK, Europe, the Middle East and Asia. At PLP Labs, she leads teams exploring new ideas for future cities. Hala chairs the Urban Art Forum for ULI UK and sits on the Cambridge University Land Economy board. In 2020, she was the first recipient of the ULI European Talent Award 2020. She received her MSc in Urban Policy from LSE, a Masters in Territorial and Urban Strategies from the Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris (Sciences-Po), and both a Bachelor of Architecture (distinction) and a Bachelor of Social Sciences from the American University of Beirut, Lebanon.

Adrian Cheng

CEO, New World Development Company Limited

As the CEO of New World Development Company (HKEx:0017), Adrian oversees the group’s strategy and operations, which includes New World China Land, NWS Holdings, Chow Tai Fook Jewellery Group, and the ownership of Rosewood Hotels and Resorts. He leads the group’s ecosystem which consists of property development, infrastructure, health, education, retail and hospitality projects. Adrian is also the founder of the K11 brand, which intertwines art and commerce through shopping malls, offices, and hospitality catering to Millennial and Gen Z consumers. By 2024, K11 will have 35 projects in 9 cities across Greater China. In 2019, Adrian launched Victoria Dockside, a US$ 2.6 billion cultural district that includes cultural-retail flagship K11 MUSEA, K11 ATELIER offices, K11 ARTUS luxury residence, and Rosewood Hotel’s first Hong Kong property. Guided by his vision for “Creating Shared Value”, he has reinvented the 50-year old company to embed culture, sustainability, and innovation at the core of how it serves local communities. To help society combat COVID-19, he pioneered the #lovewithoutborders campaign to support global efforts and has donated USD 8.5 million and distributed 10 million medical face masks so far to communities in need globally. A graduate of Harvard University, he is the youngest person in Hong Kong to receive the Officer in the Order of Arts and Letters in 2017 by the French Government, and was listed by Fortune as a “40 Under 40” global business star and a “Young Global Leader” by the World Economic Forum in 2012.

James Wong

Executive Director, Hon Kwok Land Investment Co., Ltd

James Wong is the Executive Director of the Chinney Group. The Group’s four publicly listed Hong Kong subsidiaries: Hon Kwok Land (0160.hk), Chinney Investments (0216.hk), Chinney Alliance (0385.hk), and Chinney Kin Wing (1556.hk) are focused on high-tech Engineering, Construction, Trading, Investments, and Real Estate. The businesses range from building their own 80-storey Hon Kwok Tower in Shenzhen to installing the air traffic control radar at the Hong Kong Airport. This family business was founded by his great grandfather in Nanjing in the 1920’s to build China’s railway system. He split his childhood between the US, Canada, and Hong Kong. After graduating from the University of Washington with his BA (with Honors), he went on to earn a Master’s Degree from the Florida Institute of Technology in Information Systems Engineering as well as a Juris Doctor from the University of California, Hastings College of Law. He is a Phi Kappa Phi member and an advocate for Lifelong Learning. He is a member of the California Bar as well as a licensed California Real Estate Broker. He is also a LEED Green Associate. Before joining his family business in 2010, James held positions variously as a lawyer on Toyota’s eDiscovery team in Torrance, California, and as a tax lawyer at Baker and McKenzie (Los Angeles/Hong Kong) and Price Waterhouse Coopers (San Francisco). He is married to Lisa and has two kids Cameron and Samantha. He served as a delegate to the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference for Jiangsu Province until 2018. In addition, he serves on the Board of Trustees of the Florida Institute of Technology (otherwise called NASA U) where he is an adjunct professor teaching Business and Healthcare Law and has Distinguished Alumni honors. Currently he holds a position as a member of the Executive Committee of the Urban Land Institute in Hong Kong. He is also the Vice President of the Hong Kong Huskies. He was formerly the Treasurer of the Association of Corporate Counsel’s Southern California Chapter, as well as a Governor on the Board of the American Club of Hong Kong. He is one of the founders of the Seattle I-District Asian Street Fair (now in its 35th Season) and created Seattle’s first-ever Computer Dating Dance in 1983. His MENSA memberships dates from 1980. He has published and spoken widely on subjects including eDiscovery, Social Media Policy in the workplace, China for newbies, and more recently, China and the One Belt One Road Initiative. An opinionated traveler, James ranks among the top 1% of reviewers on TripAdvisor.com. His current interests include 5G, data centres, drones, and near space and aviation related businesses.

Bill Lee

Co-Head of Gaw Technology and Infrastructure (GTI), Gaw Capital Partners

Bill Lee is leading the effort for PropTech investments and real estate development for Gaw Capital, bringing the proven technological concepts to the real estate assets. In his prior role as Director of Real Estate Strategies and Development for Microsoft, Bill was responsible for formulating and implementing Microsoft's main campus refresh initiative for its work place and support spaces. The program delivered an intelligent environment that enables Microsoft employees to do their best innovative work. The strategic plan includes the most futuristic thinking for real estate, incorporating the anticipated changes in how people live and work in sustainable and technological world. As a real estate executive leader, Bill possesses over 20 years of achievements in real estate development and finance, project development and execution, acquisitions, campus planning and engineering in both public sector and major real estate development companies. He directly managed highly visible and key development projects involving complex equity groups and financing in the 11 major markets in the US as well as implementing strategies for development operations internationally. Bill's industry focus has been with "city-like" development projects. Bill holds a Master in Urban Planning from Harvard University. Bill also has a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and a Bachelor of Arts in East Asian Studies from Bucknell University. In addition he has provided and led discussions as panelist and keynote speaker with real estate industry, investment firms, and municipalities about technology and humanity as a focus in key projects throughout the world and is currently is an instructor for the Executive Education program for real estate professionals at Harvard University.

Kristina Raspe

Vice President, Global Real Estate & Facilities, Apple Inc.

Kristina Raspe serves as the Vice President of Global Real Estate & Facilities for Apple Inc. In this role, she has global responsibility for real estate transactions and administration, corporate and data center construction, environment, health and safety, renewable energy, supply chain and corporate recycling, commute services, facilities operations and maintenance, strategic workplace planning, and business partnering activities. Kristina has been with Apple since 2013. Prior to joining Apple, Kristina served as the Vice President for Real Estate Development & Asset Management at the University of Southern California, where she continues to serve as a member of the Sol Price School of Public Policy Board of Councilors. At USC, Kristina was responsible for all campus planning activities, entitlements, real estate acquisition, disposition, leasing and development, lending, and management of all non-liquid university assets. Kristina played a critical role in the university’s redevelopment of its University Village (a 1M SF mixed-use project), the development of master plans to guide the future development of both the university’s main campus and its health science campus, and the leasing of the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. Kristina has a master’s degree in real estate development and a master’s degree in construction management, both from USC. She also has a law degree and practiced real estate and corporate law for ten years prior to transitioning to the business side of real estate. Throughout her career, Kristina has been actively involved in a variety of organizations, including Urban Land Institute (current Global Governing Trustee and Global Board of Directors member), USC Price School (current Board of Councilors member), SPUR (current San Jose Board member), the Design-Build Institute of America (Western Pacific Region past president), the Los Angeles Economic Development Corporation (past Infrastructure Committee member), California Fair Employment & Housing Commission (former commissioner), and Century City Bar Association (past president).
