Full Members Only – Dinner with Former Charleston Mayor Joseph Riley, Jr.
Join fellow ULI Full Members on September 25th for dinner and an intimate conversation with former Charleston, SC Mayor Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Mayor Riley served as the City’s mayor for over 40 years, and he was a champion of the City’s efforts to redevelop its downtown while preserving its historic character. Mayor Riley’s fingerprints are on much of the “modern day” Charleston that visitors experience today, including most recently the International African American Museum set to open in 2020.
In addition to being known among his peers as an urban design “guru”, Mayor Riley has been honored with many awards, including the National Medal of Arts from President Barack Obama, the Thomas Jefferson Award from the American Institute of Architects for Public Architecture, and ULI’s own J. C. Nichols Prize for Visionary Urban Development. Exclusive to a limited number of ULI Full Members only, you will have an opportunity to dialog with Mayor Riley about his many years of public service, learn of his greatest struggles and take home insights on how government and the private sector can best partner together on new initiatives.
